Are you going?

Rumors of a dc Talk reunion tour have periodically passed among the many fans since the group took their indefinite hiatus in the early 2000s. However in recent months, I have noticed an increase in the frequency and number of mentions that Toby, Michael & Kevin will likely reunite for an unforgettable “Jesus Freak 20 Years Later Tour.”

A reunion tour with these three artists will definitely create that must-see event of the year for so many fans.

dc Talk is one of those remarkable artists that made such a powerful impact on the contemporary Christian music scene and a Christian youth culture.  The Christian music industry has not been the same since the general market appeal of Jesus Freak’s grunge, rap core hit the airwaves and became a watershed within the genre.

A Sentimental Journey
Standing in the nosebleed section of a Springfield, MO arena in the early 1990s, I witnessed dc Talk’s Toby, Michael & Kevin deliver an amazing Free At Last tour experience to a standing-room only crowd.  The dynamics within the arena the night were electrifying.

I had no idea that night that within a year, I would move to Nashville, TN and begin working with the distribution company that represented their record label and dc Talk.

Today, the individual talents of Toby, Michael & Kevin are keeping all three of the artists extremely busy with their separate music careers, so we could have a little wait before their schedules relax enough to even permit a reunion tour.  Let’s just hope they decide soon while we’re all still young enough and mobile enough to enjoy the dc Talk reunion tour experience.

I live in Cayman and if this happens I’d have to find my way to wherever it is. I really hope for this one day.

RodneyDBowen says:

Thanks for your comment! I am hopeful for it, too! 🙂

Brad Poel says:

Yes, a dcTalk reunion WOULD be a must-see concert event! I still remember the amazing energy, high-quality production and the memorable music of their Supernatural tour which I experienced at the DeVos Hall in Grand Rapids MI years around 15 years ago. It has definitely been amazing seeing their careers develop beyond dcTalk. Let’s hope these reunion rumors are true.

PS. You should re-direct your readers here in two days for #throwbackthursday 🙂

Rodney Bowen says:

Great idea, Brad! A #ThrowBacThursday & #musicmonday in the SAME week! Consider it done. 🙂

Bring on the reunion tour!

Brad Poel says:

Ahhh yes…#MusicMonday. I should have known. You know your #s better than I…

Jesus Freak is still one of my all-time favorite Christian albums. I can’t believe it has been almost 20 years!
