Happy Mothers Day to you!

Happy Mothers Day!

In the flurry of life, I am thankful that our culture takes a pause on the busy and encourages us to make time to extend such a warm sentiment to Mom.  Moms invest so much of themselves for their families.  And although we are able to recognize the contributions of Mom everyday throughout the year, Mother’s Day is that one day of the year when we are motivated to publicly celebrate her with thoughtful words, modest gifts, and a little time of rest, while others may reminisce and rejoice in their sweet memories of Mom and the experience of life she help to provide them.

Even more today, as I watch and admire my own wife and mother of our extremely active preschooler care for our family of three, I am reminded of the investment of my mom and am so very thankful for all that she and Dad did to provide and care for their family.

“We didn’t have much, but we had love,” is one statement to which I can completely relate.  Mom created a home environment in which we never realized that we didn’t have much. Mom’s love for my dad, her love and care for her children, and her management of the household combined to provide a shelter of love, safety and security.  We had what we needed.  Life was full.

Happy Mothers Day to my wonderful and blessed wife!

I am so very thankful for my wife, the mother of our son.  She daily amazes me with the efficient ways that she effectively manages our home and life.

  • I love watching her interact with our little one.

  • I admire how she eloquently trains him during life’s teaching moments.

  • I value the way she integrates biblical scripture into our family’s day.

  • I appreciate her being willing to be home with him to nurture him in these early developmental years.

From the comfort she provides following his stumble and skinned knee to the soothing care as she snuggles him in the rocking chair before bedtime, she is a beautiful model of support and encouragement.

I have experienced this encouragement firsthand and am so very thankful for her emotional support during one of life’s toughest moments I have ever experienced when my dad died.  As the tides of grief continue to wave over me from the last 20 months, she continues to provide such great comfort, support, love and encouragement.

I am so very grateful to her. I love her. I treasure her. .

She does so much to care for her family by providing a shelter of love, safety, and security. We have what we need.  Life is full.

His Mother
Even He that died for us upon the cross,
in the last hour, in the unutterable agony of death,
was mindful of His mother,
as if to teach us that this holy love should be our last worldly thought

the last point of earth from which the soul should take its flight for heaven.
— Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Proverbs 31:10-12; 28-30

10 An excellent wife, who can find? For her worth is far above jewels.
11 The heart of her husband trusts in her, And he will have no lack of gain.
12 She does him good and not evil all the days of her life.

28 Her children rise up and bless her; her husband also, and he praises her, saying:
29 “Many daughters have done nobly, but you excel them all.”
30 Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised.

A Mother’s Love
There are times when only a mother’s love
Can understand our tears,
Can soothe our disappoints
And calm all of our fears.
There are times when only a mother’s love
Can share the joy we feel
When something we’ve dreamed about
Quite suddenly is real.
There are times when only a mother’s faith
Can help us on life’s way
And inspire in us the confidence
We need from day to day.
For a mother’s heart and a mother’s faith
And a mother’s steadfast love
Were fashioned by the angels
And sent from God above.
