A Summer Vacation in Affordable Timeshare Rentals?

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

Summer vacation in timeshare rentals has never been something I ever considered when exploring ideas for our family vacation.  My only association with timeshare properties has been simply overhearing conversations between friends who anxiously worked to sell their rarely used properties.

My travel search typically begins and ends with a trip to Travelocity, which has always been go-to travel resource.

Beginning my research for this year’s vacation trip, I immediately stumbled upon RedWeek.com, an online timeshare rentals marketplace.  The timing of this discovery synced perfectly with my also finding out that RedWeek was looking for people like me to review their timeshare rentals business and then post a review about it on my blog.

I immediately contacted the folks at RedWeek.com, and they approved me to participate.  In exchange for this genuine review of their service, RedWeek provided me:

  • 2-year free membership to their site in order to thoroughly review it for this review post
  • 1-year free membership that I may giveaway to one of my readers (see details at the bottom of this article)

Review of Affordable TimeShare Rentals

My initial review of RedWeek.com, I am pleasantly surprised to see some very economical prices available for the timeshare rentals.  I just assumed timeshare rentals would be way outside my budget, so I never really considered them as a realistic and affordable option for my family.  As you can see within the below screenshot from their website, the prices are very competitive.

Affordable Timeshare Rentals

These are cheaper prices than what I paid for my family’s beach condo vacation last year! When the timeshare owners are unable to use their timeshare weeks, they rent them to other families.  Working directly with the owners, RedWeek permits the owners to post their available properties onto the site at a price that the owner selects. This seems to be a definite win-win for both the owner and my family.

Timeshare Rentals Highlights:

  • Top Timeshare Rental Destinations is an area located in the center of the home page.  At a quick glance, you can easily see the amazingly low prices of the property rentals, some within major vacation resorts.

The above screenshot shows the starting prices of available timeshare rentals within these top destinations.

$46/night:   Maui, Hawaii
$43/night:   Cabo San Lucas, Mexico
$36/night:   Cancun, Mexico
$29/night:   Palm Beach Shores, Florida

These starting prices are at least 50% less than the condo my family rented last year from Travelocity.  Something to remember, the starting prices are typically for certain dates.  These rates will likely change based upon the owners of the timeshares adjusting their pricing based on availability and time of the year that you’re looking to travel.

The Find a Timeshare link that is within the left side of the green bar (top of the home page) will direct you to a page of quick links.  These are great to more quickly search for themed-specific timeshare rentals:

Resources Page provides lots of helpful information regarding how the timeshare rentals process works, easy instructions on renting directly from the owners, FAQs, etc.

IMPORTANT to NOTE:  Weekly timeshare rentals are primarily the only available options.  The majority of the timeshare rentals on RedWeek.com are posted directly by timeshare rentals’ owners, who had purchased a weekly interval.  Since they must pay maintenance fees to use this week every year, nightly rentals are typically not an option.  However, since the nightly rate is so affordable, you may still want to consider reviewing the options because you may actually pay less for the full week of timeshare rentals with RedWeek.  You may contact the owner directly to make specific arrangements.

In the end, though I am disappointed that I was not able to find an available property during my pre-scheduled vacation dates, I have bookmarked RedWeek.com in order to periodically check the availability of timeshare rentals next year when I can proactively plan my family’s vacation dates on the calendar.
